Advancement and experience

Every player gets 1 experience point just for being active in a given week. It is possible to get one bonus point for good roleplaying each week as well. Other players can nominate for a bonus point by posting in the compliments forum, or the ST's may just give them out.

NPCs also get experience, even if you don't see them active on the boards. They generally won't earn at the rate of an active PC, however.

Literaries are worth 1-3 points, with a maximum of 5 possible XP awarded for Literaries in a given month. Examples of what we'd award which level of points are stickied in the Literaries forum.

Experience spends are as follows:

Advance Attribute: 5 times the current level, ie. to go from 3 to 4 costs 15 XP
Abilities: 3 points for first dot, cost to advance is 2 times the current level, ie. to go from 3 to 4 costs 6 XP
Secondary Ability: 2 points for first dot, cost to advance is current level, ie. to advance from 3 to a 4 costs 3 XP
New Discipline: 10 points for the first dot, cost to advance is as follows:
Clan Discipline (including primary Thaumaturgy or Necromancy path): 5 times the current level, ie. to go from 3 to 4 costs 15 XP
Out of Clan Discipline: 7 times the current level, ie. to go from 3 to 4 costs 21 XP
New (secondary) path in Thaumaturgy or Necromancy: 7 points for the first dot, cost to advance is 4 times the current level, ie. to go from 3 to 4 costs 12 XP
Virtues and Humanity*: 2 times the current level, ie. to go from 3 to 4 costs 6 XP
Willpower*: Cost is current rating, ie. to go from a 3 to a 4 costs 3 points
Background*: 3 points for first dot, cost to advance is 2 times the current level, ie. to go from 3 to 4 costs 6 XP
